Retired after nearly 40 years working in IT. I worked in the car importers, distributors and insurance sectors. I coarse fished for many years before taking up fly fishing in 1999. Nowadays I only coarse fish quite rarely. I experienced the frustration of trying to fly cast without any tuition, but the occasional capture of a trout was enough to keep my interest and spur me on.
I mainly fly fish still waters and I am a member at a syndicate lake in Kent. I also fly fish large reservoirs in the West, the Midlands and the South East and find this aspect of the sport very varied and satisfying. I believe I have a good knowledge of still water fly fishing. I have a little experience on chalk streams and running water.
I achieved GAIC qualification at Chatsworth in 2025 to add to my Angling Trust Angling Event Lead Coach qualification.
I coach fly fishing and fly casting. Relevant experience, enthusiasm plus an understanding of the problems and frustrations of fly fishing are aspects I can bring to a coaching session. It would be a privilege to introduce a beginner to the pleasures of fly casting and fishing, or, to assist an intermediate to progress their casting to the next level.
