The Game Angling Instructor Association - Become an Instructor

Making the decision to become a professionally recognised instructor is not one to be taken lightly, requiring, as it does, commitment to your practical, knowledge and teaching skills. This commitment applies not only to gaining a recognised qualification, but to ongoing continuous professional development (CPD). CPD is a requirement to maintain and update the knowledge and skills required for effective coaching and instruction in all areas of game angling and fly fishing.
That said GAIA welcomes anyone who wishes to begin the process of becoming a game angling, fly fishing instructor / coach and offering a proven and effective pathway to achieve your goals.
Initially it is essential that those wishing to become instructors undergo mentoring by one of the many experienced mentors available through GAIA. The purpose of this is to ensure that there is no mis-understanding of what is required and to give a clear guide to what additional skills or knowledge development is required. The mentors are able to provide or advise on how additional skills or knowledge can be achieved.
Qualifications are available in the following disciplines:
An applicant can apply to undertake assessment in any number of the disciplines.
The qualifications currently administered by GAIA include The Game Angling Instructors Certificate, GAIC and The Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors Certificate APGAI. Application for APGAI requires the applicant having the equivalent GAIC qualification for a period of at least one year.
